Director of New Forest Museum Trading Ltd Vacancy

New Forest Museum Trading Ltd is seeking a voluntary director to join its board. 

New Forest Museum Trading Ltd manages the shop and, since May 2021, the café in the New Forest Heritage Centre for the New Forest Heritage Trust.  The Trust is looking for a voluntary independent director for its trading company; someone with retail management experience is needed to sit on the board and advise on how to develop the commercial arm of the New Forest Heritage Trust.

We will shortly be undertaking a substantial redevelopment project to ensure that the New Forest Heritage Centre is sustainable for future generations. You could make a real difference at this crucial time: by increasing sales revenue, the New Forest Heritage Centre will be able to maintain the history of this unique landscape and to develop knowledge about the area.

The role will require a commitment of up to 3 hours per month, for example to attend meetings and to support New Forest Museum Trading Ltd more widely. Trading Director Board meetings are held six times a year at the New Forest Heritage Centre.

What we are looking for:

Experience in retail and catering management including:

    • Analysing sales figures and forecasting future sales volumes
    • Controlling budgets and costs
    • Providing reports to the board
    • Identifying strategies to retain and attract customers
    • An understanding of retail laws, security and health and safety
    • Experience in managing commercial growth
    • Supporting staff training and development within the shop and café
    • Ensuring compliance with food health and safety regulations
    • Developing the good image of the shop and café
    • Providing support and advice to the Retail and Café Manager, including product development and buying
