New Forest Heritage Centre

Museum, Library, Archive, Gallery, and Café with Shop

We are an independent charitable trust and share the stories of the New Forest and its people.

Since 1988, our Centre has been a thriving hub where local residents and visitors can discover more about the New Forest, its history, its customs, its people, its wildlife and its future.

Upcoming events

  • Group of people having a discussion around a table indoors.

    Memory Works Hampshire

    Weekly sessions.

The sessions will provide mental and memory stimulation, allowing participants to experience the learning process once again. CST is a group approach and builds self-esteem and confidence to join conversations and share interests.

  • They Think It’s All Over

    10-07-25 to12-08-25

New Forest Heritage Centre Exhibition, Summer 2025. After the excitement of VE and VJ Day in 1945, what did the advent of peace signify for the residents of the New Forest?

The changes in aspects such as home, fashion, food, and technology—and the resultant social transformation—will be explored in our gallery exhibition and through events that will run from 10th July to 12th August.

  • Hampshire Open Studios - New Forest Marque Inspired

    16-08-25 to 14-09-25

New Forest Marque Inspired members will be coming together again under the Hampshire Open Studios initiative, which promotes artists and craftspeople across the county. Last year’s event involved over a dozen local talents displaying and selling their work in our gallery. It was extremely popular and successful, and we will be continuing our support this year.
